Pros: Educational
My daughter is 3.5yrs old, so this is more advance for her in terms of certain activities but is great with teaching the fine motor skill of writing letters. I love that it teaches her how to care for her puppy. We have a family dog so its important for her to know how to take care of a pet. I recommend this product it's worth it!

Educational but not very exciting for my four year old. He didnt play it for too long before he got bored. But Very educational, I would recommend it for the education part. The game does not have a lot of fun activities.

Game freezes CONSTANTLY!

Pros: Fun for kids
My daughter absolutely loves this game but every time she plays it, it always freezes at some point. The only way for me to turn off the leappad when it freezes like this is to remove and put back the battery pack. It's frustrating for her and me as well. She has other games for her leappad2, none of which have this problem. I wish I could get a refund!

my granddaughter started playing with this as soon as i gave it to her and played with it continuously. she learned the concept of earning her doggy dollars, saving them to purchase something bigger , and instead of just getting one item for her dollars i showed her how she could get several items. it was if a lightbulb went off! she was so cute. she can play but still learn number concepts and some addition at her age.

I purchased this game to add to the oher learning games my grandson received with his new Explorer for Christmas. I have a huskey like the one featured, so my grandson was completely thrilled to have a new game featuring my dog!! Hehehe, it must be great to be 6!

My 4 year old has not quit playing this game since she got it. I love how it helps her learn her letters and numbers. She will feed and water her puppy then will take care of the real animals. It is also teaching her responsibility

game freezes A LOT

My only real complaint is that the game freezes all the time. I only have 3 downloaded games on the LeapPad 2 and this game cartridge and 2 others.My 3 year old does not have this problem with any other game just this one. We have to hold down the power button for about 30 seconds and then it signs off and then turn it back on.

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my 5 years old son to go with his new LeapsterGS. This is a very cute game where you get to pick your pet and then do all sorts of activities to do to take care of it. It teaches responsibility and caring. My older boys also played this game when they were younger and both really enjoyed it.

My 4.5 yr old twins love this game. My son was hesitant at first to use his leapster explorer, but this game brought him out of his shell. He knows all of the different clothing options, puppies' names and tricks. Even having collected almost everything available, he still plays this game every day. My kids enjoy exploring the different areas (bark park, pooch co. Dog show, pup boutique) and it also teaches some math. It also teaches them some jokes that are age appropriate and funnier than the ones they come up with themselves.

I have a daughter & a son. Both love this game!! The only con we have found is with changing your puppy. The only way I have found to change your puppy is to delete the user's profile or to enter a new name & start a new profile. They like to change every once n a while. Other than that it's an great little game & they really do enjoy it!! :O)

My kid (4 years old) loves this game! It has a ton of different things for him to do to his puppy: feed, water, groom, walk, pet, dress up, etc; and every one of these events requires your child to count, spell or follow a set of directions in order to complete. For example, to feed your dog, your child must count out a specific amount of "pieces of food" by tapping the dog food bag that many times. To score well in the dress show, you must put on a specific amount and clothes and usually there are one or more other requirements (like your child must include a piece of yellow clothing or your puppy must be wearing a hat, etc). The coins with which your child buys food, shampoo, and snacks at the store are also easy to come by and you do not need to use LeapFrog Connect to download any of this (like you do with the pet game that comes with the Explorer). My kid has been playing this game for a few days now, has gone through multiple battery recharges and we have yet to find a con with this game! I recommend.
